About the Author
Hermann Gahm is an AGS support architect at SAP working with ABAP and database performance. He developed internal trainings relating to ABAP performance and is the author/co-author of several SAP PRESS books in English and German.

Thorsten Schneider is a product manager for SAP HANA at SAP. He studied business information management and worked as a PLM developer and solution architect. Before he assumed his current position, he worked as a product manager for ABAP and HANA at SAP.

Christiaan Swanepoel has worked for SAP SE since 2003. He is currently Product Owner in the area of ABAP development tools for Core Data Services (CDS) in Eclipse. Prior to that, he worked in the area of ABAP programming language development and was part of the ABAP for SAP HANA integration team that deals with the software development based on ABAP and SAP HANA. Another focus of his work is agile software development. This includes agile testing of CDS objects in ABAP.

Dr. Eric Westenberger works at SAP as a product expert in the area of technology and innovation for the SAP HANA platform. After having completed his research work, he worked as a developer and architect for SAP NetWeaver (ABAP and Java) before he assumed his current position.

This book is written at a GP and specialist level but it quite comprehendible by most caregivers. From medication tables to basic neurology backgrounder, to strategies for pain management, decision making, medical team building, and more ... Caring for Children With Severe Neurological Impairment is the go to book.

Finally a text written from the practical palliative care perspective - palliate care is not end of life care, it's optimizing quality of life.

We strongly recommend this book for anyone caring for a loved one, of any age, with neurological impairment. We've suggest this for every MLD Family we care for ... and we use it when caring for our daughter with MLD.

Must have for parents of children with complex neurological problems

I have two sons with an unknown neurologic genetic condition (SNI) and this book has been so amazing it brings tears to my eyes just writing this review. My oldest has been in pain his whole life and although I suspected it, I never knew what to say to my physician who had no clue how to treat it. We tried one of the suggestions in her book and both my children have slept through the night for two weeks straight! The first time EVER! Dr. Hauer, THANK YOU for taking the time to write this book. It has empowered me with knowledge about my children so I have more than just my mom's intuition when I go to there many appointments. I wish there were more loving and kind doctors like you. For the potential reader, if your child has an unknown neurological issue, I highly recommend this book. It is very medical with lots of terminology including medication lists. I have to look some terms up online, but this is very important so you can speak your doctor's language. However it is written for a caregiver, not a doctor. It talks about some sad topics like end of life but it is sadly all necessary when you have a complex child.

This is a great read for parents or caregivers of children with special needs. This book provide readers with a better understanding of the complexity of an individual with special needs and how to help make them comfortable & help you understand different warning signs of medication withdrawal or toxicity. It also provides you with information on how to communicate with your child's care team due to this task being very difficult at times. It is a highly recommended read.

It Never Gets Old Reading Top Shelf Quality Books and This Is One Of The Best

The Mercy Thompson series has been one of my favorites since I picked up book 1 several years ago. It is always well written, the plots varied and full of twists. This latest incarnation is no different but the plots are becoming deeper, the interpersonal relationships are becoming more involved and add depth to these stories. I can tell you I read this book in 1 day, I could not put it down.

As the synopsis indicates this book starts out with a rush of action in a battle with a troll which was awesome but it was just to setup a much more involved plot that takes us places we have never been before in this series and turns a few things we have believed in the last couple of books are now portrayed in a bit of a different light.

We are fast approaching all-out war between humans, werewolves and the fae so in addition to everything else that has to be avoided at all costs so hang on tight, things are going to get rough.

There is a bit of tragedy that makes me kinda sad. I can't say too much about the actual story because the action pretty much starts on page one so anything beyond that becomes a spoiler.

Bottom Line: As always the writing, story and plot are exceptional. The characters are varied and rounded out, no cardboard cutouts in these books (it is still hard to keep up with so many of them). The pack bond relationships are brought out more in this book and a lot of the disharmony we have seen in the last few books will be resolved firmly. So enjoy a great book, I sure did 5 Stars easy and you will NOT be bored on any page

Of Two Minds, but Overall Disappointed

Fire Touched is the 9th book in Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson Series. I have been a long time reader of this series and Mercy is a character that always seems to come alive.

Fire Touched was much more action filled than many of the previous books in the Mercy Thompson series and moved at a quick and steady pace, but I just kept thinking WTF? Fire Touched just did not seem to keep true to who I always felt Mercy was and IS. Character growth in Urban Fantasy is something that this genre does phenomenally well and yet I just feel like Mercy is losing her “stuff”. Mercy grew up with the freakin’ Marrok. The dang Alpha of Alphas..the master at werewolf politics, so why did Mercy continue to not understand (until it was drawn in kindergarten crayons) how her actions affected everyone else. This just didn’t fit at all. There is no way anyone could justify the level of ignorance Mercy displayed multiple times in Fire Touched.

Briggs , as always, does a brilliant job at creating vividly haunting new creatures, unforgettable characters and epic moments. The deeper look inside of the fae innerworkings was a great element in this installment and added a lot to the overall story. I am so conflicted! Part of me loved the action and world and the other part is weeping for why my favorite bad-ass mechanic is suddenly acting like an idiot. And this entire ex-wife thing with Christie has to stop. BOUNDARIES, I would think Mr. Military britches would get it.

As you can see, I am a little of two minds. My frustrations were high throughout Fire Touched, but this is still a world that could fill endless hours of conversations with fellow readers.

I rate Fire Touched 3 out of 5 Bullets!

Still going strong!

It's a pretty rare thing for a series to really hold on to its spark after nine installments. But this one does it. Reading this book was like falling back into a familiar world I know and love. I didn't want to put it down, not because it was an adrenaline filled ride, but because I cared what would happen next. Mercy Thompson is a fantastic heroine. She is not the strongest or the most powerful, but she is astute and loyal, and when the chips fall, she comes through every time.

I left the last book a little bit angry at the pack and at Adam for the way the whole thing with his ex-wife played out. But I am happy to report, this issue got the resolution I needed here --and in pretty short order. Patricia Briggs dealt with the elephant in the room, and I am ready to love everyone again. The cohesiveness of the pack is actually a really important part of the story, as they must band together to face off with the Fae.

It's not quite as dire as it sounds. I mean, yeah, it's dangerous, but this isn't the kind of gut wrencher as , say, Iron Kissed. My heart wasn't in my throat while I was reading. This book did excite me, though, because I felt like Mercy and Adam were establishing themselves as a force in the world on an entirely different level. I saw their bond deepening and their standing elevated, as their network of allies showed its worth.

Without giving too much away, Mercy essentially claims the Tri-Cities as pack territory. They are protectors. They are enforcers. And not everyone likes it. Not other packs. Not the Fae. But it is what it is. And I love how Adam stands by her --and the way the pack falls in line. I love the new addition of Aiden. And I liked seeing Thomas and Margaret. The origin of their story is in the short "Fairy Gifts" and I would love to get to spend more time with them.

The book isn't as action packed or quite as dense with the mythology as some of the others in the series. But I think I enjoyed it more for its character focus. I love Mercy and Adam when we see the depths of their feelings for each other. I love it every time Mercy is an underdog and she wins against the odds. I love Ben. I love Jesse and Zee, and even the volcano-dog-guy is growing on me.

I am still excited to see where Mercy's story goes next.

IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH

A. h. macmillan, born in 1877 was just a young man in search of spirtual truth. He eventually came in touch with Charles Russell in 1900 who was the first president of the Bible Students (as Jehovah's witnesses was formally called).

After having his bible questions answered through the bible, Macmillan realized that it was the truth. For the next 66 years he was in the fore front of seeing the truth being spread throught the world, to what has become known in over 235 lands, with over 6 million witnesses to date.

He served with three of the presidents, Russell, Rutherford, and Knor. He relates the good times and also the bad times of the early history of the modern day Jehovah Witnesses. From being put into jail with 7 others, and going through two world wars, he relates honestly to the readers what the Jehovah Witnesses went throught to tell the truth of the Bible.

If you want to know the truth about Jehvoah's Witnesses, then this is the best book to read.

Lovely Reprint!

You will not be disappointed in this reprint of the highly popular book about Jehovah's Witnesses amd their organization. The superior quality of the hardbinding and the dustjacket are actually better than the original. Plus, at $99.00, it is far less than the exorbitant prices of $300.00 to $400.00, and even higher, that most people want for the original.

Honest,Ultimate truth-ful story about Man's miserable plight.

AND...GOD'S DIVINE PLAN OF THE AGES.A.H. Macmillian life story growing up in an organization.This book tells about an organization better yet a people still on the March.Look at Africa,India,Russia just to name a few (Today),that has embraced the Truth.It tells the story of Jehovah's Witness Historically.Through two world wars, the arms race etc.Really no organization or man made institution particually can explain.'Why we are here,Where we are going' on a personel level.Yes you as a person your personality etc.Or on a mankind level..Words as poignant as ever in the present human situation.Does it put things from a divine point of view in perspective? For me YES.
