Timely 4 Day Delivery - Great Price - Purchased Used & Arrived In Very Good Condition

4 STARS - Primarily because I only do basic repairs on my 1999 3.3L Grand Caravan and total cost for two books used was $15.00. I decided to purchase both the Haynes & Chilton manuals USED and reference both to help me attempt repairs within my limitations before hiring mechanics that charge more than my vehicle is worth just to replace Valve Cover Gaskets, a few Sensors, Brake Jobs, etc. I'm no mechanic - just mechanically inclined so these books are good enough for me. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED BOTH MANUALS HAVEN'T IMPROVED MUCH AT ALL SINCE I WAS IN MY EARLY 20's - I'm now 63yrs old.

Pretty much useless, as are most aftermarket "manuals."

I should have known better than to expect this manual to be the exception. It's got tons of useless filler, the same generic boilerplate padding that they put in all of their manuals. I tried the book for three different common issues with the car and none was addressed well enough to help at all. The book contains a huge chapter on overhauling the automatic transmission, which is something that probably nobody would ever attempt, but then when you look up simple maintenance items it tells you that this is too technical and you should take it to the dealer. Way to go, Chilton.

A Time For Living

A Time For Living by Ruth Saberton is a touching enemies to lovers story that really does demonstrate the time for living is now.

I love the setting of Polwenna Bay, and the unique, quirky characters of this place really make this a fun, yet emotional read.

I really liked getting to know Mo and Ashely in A Time For Living. Throughout this book I watched them (especially Mo!) fight their attraction to each other, even as the air sizzled between them. Ashely is not one to give up though...and the secret he has makes him want to take advantage of every moment he can, especially if those moments are with Mo. I liked how these two came together, the push and pull, the tension, and the dialogue between them. At times I laughed, at times I wanted to cry. Both of these characters come across as mature people and established in their ways. I loved watching what this meant for a relationship that is on very rocky ground. I liked how the characters dealt with their issues, the refreshing lack of angst, the humor, and the growing trust.

The well flowing plot and the strong sub plots in A Time For Living captured my interest from page one and didn't let me go. I liked learning more about the people in Polwenna Bay, and the different issues they are facing. With a clear finish to this story, Ruth still left me with strong anticipation for the next story in this series.

Written clearly and very well paced, A Time For Living is filled with all sorts of emotions, and my heart felt full as I read this. I'd recommend it to any romance reader.

Another Cornish winner!

It's some time since I read the first book in this series, but it didn't matter at all. This was another warm and compelling story from Polwenna Bay featuring the Tremaine family.

Morwenna (Mo) has a hate/hate relationship with Ashley Carstairs and this book is the story of their relationship. It is sensitively written and deals with a huge problem that Ashley has. He courts Mo and she falls heavily for him, as does he for her. Their humour together is wonderful and I laughed and cried with them. I can't imagine how I would have reacted had I ever been in Mo's situation but I felt Ruth got it exactly right.

The sub plot of Jules and Danny was excellent and I look forward to reading about that in the next book. Can't wait!

I love Ruth Sabertons writings. She makes you feel as if you are right there. Her writing is beautiful. I was a little disappointed in this storyline. Very typical...boy and girl meet and are attracted to each other but won't admit it. He's sick and pushes her away...she is confused. You just knew how the story was going to end. I would have liked a little more of a surprise. This won't stop me from buying the authors books however as she is still one of my favorite authors. I am looking forward to the next book in the Polwenna series.

Other than that... it's a delight. I had to go to my university library and pic the missing two pages from the older edition.

An Excellent Guide to Wine Tasting

For any reader seeking to learn about wine tasting, you're in luck because there a dozen or more books available on this topic and this particular book is an excellent one.

The book is well organized and nicely covers all of the basics in appraising a wine. After first describing how to approach and evaluate a wine from the perspective of its appearance, aromas and taste on the palate, the book then offers insights into putting this knowledge into practice with different types of wine. Subsequent, brief (2 to 4 pages each) sections cover: tasting Young white wines; White wines for laying down; Red wines; Young red wines; Aged red wines; Rose wines, Sweet wines; Vin janes; Sparkling wines and other kinds of wines. But, it doesn't stop there; it offers tasting insights for armagnac, cognac, malt whiskey, and rum, each in its own sections.

Most books on wine tasting are written for the average consumer, with a small number diving into the topic much more extensively, written mainly for wine professionals. This book is clearly written for the wine consumer, although it offers some insights a professional would likely find worthy and useful.

While I rated it 5 stars, my true rating for this book is 4.5. It's not the perfect book on wine tasting, however, it is an excellent one and most readers would learn a lot, likely everything they need to know, from this book. I highlight all books I read and this one ended up with a lot of highlighting, a characteristic I find very indicative of a book's merit in hindsight. Highly recommended.

This book about our world's many crises and injustices helps us to cope by rethinking our assumptions and looking at ancient and recent world events in a new light. In it, hope is redefined inexhaustibly. If anything, creativity holds answers to our crises. Understanding both what hope is and what it isn't is essential to our coming to terms with evil and injustice. Hope is not faith, not wait-and-see, not compromise, not merely the opposite of despair. Hope is an essential element in patient, energetic, effective activism and persistent principled resistance to injustice and other evils. Dissatisfaction mobilizes, hope stabilizes in struggle. Hope helps our ideas grow and bear fruit. Hope is not a dream, it is a force that gives our life meaning.

Salutory antidote to left pessimism

Rebecca Solnit brilliantly recasts the history of the last fifteen years as one of important progress and breakthroughs for the left (or those wishing for some sort of better world--at one point she dismisses the term 'left') by highlighting liberatory moments--the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Zapatista revolt, Seattle, the World Says No to War, even the period of reflection immediately after 9-11. She also does excellent work thinking through the impact of social movements, which, as she says, is often sideways and culturally transformative rather than the direct achievement of a goal. I love her idea that nonviolent civil disobedience is the great invention of the twentieth century, even as the atom bomb is the worst. In later chapters, she falls back on fashionable positions of US activists-the local over the global, concrete alternatives in the present rather than grand schemes for the future, etc.--rather than transcending these dichotomies, which is the spirit much of the book moves in. But I found the history portion revelatory enough that I still give it five stars.

This is a book about activism by someone who has both done it and thought about it. Nothing could be more timely. Solnit challenges apathy but also challenges thoughtlessness. Passion is simply not enough. Strategies attendant upon real trends and trajectories of power are needed. Perhaps less now strategies of reacting than strategies of pro-acting. Any young citizen wondering how to be effective will find Hope invaluable toward thinking this through.. It is not a prescription but a particular contribution to an important conversation.
