This is a great book to make a merry-go-round with. I didn't order this to make a merry-go-round. I ordered it for my 11-year-old's school project. She was making a project with a circus theme and cut out the horses on poles and flags to decorate the project. We will keep it in our craft drawer for any other future projects.

Fun and beautiful

I built this one many years ago when I was in college, purely because I am a carousel aficionado. I had no prior model building experience, but did not have trouble getting it together and looking nice. It did take many sessions of sitting down and building it over a couple of weeks because of all the painstaking cutting of the intricate figures, but it was time-consuming (and engrossing, to me) rather than difficult. Once built, it can be spun on its spindle. I highly recommend this to people who like paper models, carousels, or ideally both. As an added bonus, all the animals on the carousel are copied from real, antique figures.

Had so much fun with this way back when...

I made this MANY years ago, when I was home with the flu in 6th grade. It took all week (I think I remember faking sick for the last day or two, just so I'd have time to finish), but it kept my interest the whole time. I had so much fun making this that the memory has totally stuck with me. FYI: this is not a short or easy project, but if you have pretty steady hands and like seeing something you build come together, you won't regret getting one of these. And, it actually spins!!
